September represents a major time of transition especially for families with kids that are returning to school either virtually or in-person. Times of transition can be both stressful and challenging especially when you’re trying to stay healthy.
Don’t let the new school year derail the amazing progress you’ve already made on your journey to better health. In fact, think of September as a reset month – an opportunity to focus and make even more progress on your health goals before the holidays.
Here are some helpful tips to keep you and the family on track:
Plan your family meals – Creating a routine and a plan can mean the difference between a stressful day and a calm one. knowing what you’re going to make before you even go to the grocery store will make your shopping trip easier and meal times more enjoyable. Rediscover your slow cooker – Start cooking your protein and vegetables in the morning for a delicious and nutritious dinner. Your family will love how the flavors fill the house.
Freeze your leftovers – This can be a great tool for when you’re in a time crunch and don’t have a plan for dinner. No need to order out, just pull your leftover meal out of the freezer and reheat. Pro tip: soups, stews, and shredded meats work best.
Cut up your vegetables for an easy salad/snack – Buy your vegetables pre cut or cut them up as soon as you get home from the store. Store your veggies in Tupperware with a dry paper towel to help prevent them from getting soggy.
