David Cover is from the Washington, D.C. area and is one of EMP’s Registered Dietitians (RD).
He received his B.S. in Kinesiology from the University of Maryland. After working in the healthcare field for several years his interests shifted to nutrition and dietetics when he realized how much nutrition can improve a patient’s quality of life. Helping one of his clients achieve a 300 pound weight loss and witnessing how it changed her life made a huge impression on him. David obtained his Master’s in Human Nutrition from Drexel University and completed his dietetic internship with the University of Maryland. David has since worked with Eat Right Philadelphia to provide nutrition education in public schools, and served with Project Health, an NIH-funded nutrition intervention study investigating how to prevent weight again amongst college students.
In his free time, David enjoys running, hiking, and biking. He also loves to travel. From 2016-2017 he traveled around the world – to over 25 countries on 6 continents. This experience reinforced his interest in nutrition and its impact on human development, especially among children. Traveling also exposed him to wonderful international foods and recipes.
