Women and Strength Training – Debunking the Myths About “Bulking Up”

I am also an ACSM Certified Personal Trainer, and in my work I have heard my fair share of fitness myths. These clients say they want to focus on cardio and “toning” their muscle, and I have to explain that the toned look they are seeking can only come from lifting weights. I have to quell their fears of becoming bulky and explain how difficult it is for a woman to bulk up, and that they would have to intentionally try to do so in order for it to happen.
